Wall and fence-mounted letterboxes are a fast, affordable, and low-profile solution for homes with a suitable surface already in place. They’re perfect for mounting directly onto brick piers, rendered block walls, or timber picket fences, and are commonly used in both traditional and modern properties.
Installation is quick, generally taking 30 to 60 minutes, and includes drilling the correct holes, inserting wall plugs or timber screws, and levelling the unit at a compliant 900–1200mm height. Most models can be mounted either front-access or rear-access depending on the fence setup, and spacers are used where needed to keep the box flush and stable.
This type of installation is ideal for homes with fencing right on the boundary line, or for those wanting a discreet mail solution without the need for concreting or slabs. While it’s not suited to Colorbond or thin steel fencing without reinforcement, and may not be as vandal-resistant as brick-in styles, it remains one of the most popular choices for its simplicity, low cost, and clean finish.
