Commercial Multibank Letterbox – Installation & Mounting Guide
Our Commercial Multibank Letterboxes are designed to suit a wide range of residential, strata, and commercial applications. Each multibank is Australian made from extruded aluminium and custom-built to your specifications, ensuring a durable, secure, and compliant solution for multiple users.
To ensure a smooth installation, it’s important to select the correct mounting method, opening type, cladding, and flanges at the time of ordering. Below is a guide to help you choose the best configuration for your project.
Installation Options
Post Mounted
Post mounted multibanks are the most popular installation method due to their flexibility and suitability for open spaces.
Order Recommendation
All post-mounted multibanks are supplied with 2 vertical posts, one on each side of the bank, complete with pre-drilled holes and fixing bolts.
Into Ground
Straight 50×50 posts are inserted into pre-dug holes and concreted into the ground. This provides a clean and discreet finish, with the concrete easily concealed using soil, grass, or landscaping.
Australia Post regulations require mail slots to sit between 600mm and 1600mm above ground level. Our posts are designed with approximately 400mm set into the ground, ensuring compliance regardless of whether your bank is 1 box high or up to 6 boxes high.
Onto Concrete
Bolt-down posts are ideal for solid surfaces such as concrete paving. These posts feature 200×200mm welded base plates, allowing them to be securely fixed using anchor bolts. Bolt-down posts are approximately 400mm shorter than in-ground posts to maintain correct slot height compliance.
Wall Mounted
Wall mounted multibanks are bolted through the rear of the boxes directly into a vertical or horizontal surface. This method is ideal where ground space is limited and is the second most popular option after post mounting.
Order Recommendation
Wall mounted banks can be installed onto brick walls, concrete walls, or even horizontal surfaces such as low brick walls, provided the structure is strong enough to support the weight.
Wall Recessed (Single-Sided)
Wall recessed multibanks are installed into a wall cavity that does not open at the rear, meaning the boxes must be front opening.
Order Recommendation
A fixed front flange frames the multibank and neatly covers the edges of the wall recess.
If the wall depth is shallower than the box depth and the boxes protrude forward, a floating flange can be supplied instead, allowing the flange to slide forward and sit flush with the wall face.
Through Wall / Fence Installation
Through-wall installations allow the multibank to pass through a wall or fence and be accessed from one side.
Order Recommendation
The fixed front flange allows the boxes to sit flush with the wall, while the floating rear flange secures and frames the portion protruding from the opposite side.
This method can also be used for fence installations; however, larger banks can become quite heavy, so fence strength should be carefully considered.
