Most of us think about making changes around the house to reduce the impact we have on the environment, but how many of us actually get around to it. There are plenty of ways you can help your household adopt a more eco-friendly approach, and Aussie Clothesline are going to show you 6 ways how you can do just that.

1. Pull back the curtains & open the windows

Let in the daylight. 10% of energy can be saved on heating during the day when you allow the sunlight in, not to mention by not using the lights you’re keeping money in your pocket. You might even consider getting window tinting to help with the excessive heat during the summer months.

Open the windows to allow the breeze in and help cool down the house before first resorting to the air-conditioner. Too much humidity is also what can cause mold - keep the window open a crack when having a shower and you’ll find there’s almost no need for the use of toxic and harmful chemicals.

 2. Line dry

Ditch the dryer and dry your washing outside on the clothesline. Not only is air drying better for the environment but it's also better for your clothes. The UV from sunlight is a natural disinfectant by killing the germs without using harmful chemicals.

3. Cuddle up

That’s right! Why use an electrical appliance when body warmth during the cooler nights is clearly the cheapest and best way to keep warm.

4. Lightbulb

Swap out your traditional light bulbs to CFLs or LEDs. These tend to use about 25-80% less energy than your regular bulbs; they assist with the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and they last so much longer; meaning fewer trips to the shops and more money staying in your wallet.

5. Switch it off

How many hours a day does your tv get left on standby? Approx between 10-15 hours per day. It’s quite a simple and effortless change - switch off your appliances at the power point when you're not using them.

6. Indoor plants

Get yourself some indoor plants that require minimal care. Plants are great for purifying the air, and they also jazz up the place. It's also been said that indoor plants can aid with concentration.

These are a few of the simplest and most effortless ways you can make your home more eco-friendly, why not give them a go. Aussie has a fantastic range of clotheslines available, with one to suit every household. Give our friendly team a call on 1300 138 610 or view our range online today.
